More Than a Book

The road to this book was paved with good intentions and detours. Lots of detours! Self-doubt was a constant companion, leading to false starts and countless rewrites over the years. But through it all, a fire burned within me – a need to complete this project. It felt crucial to preserve the legacy of these fallen soldiers, the talented sculptors who brought the monument to life, and the dedicated committee who envisioned it all. On a personal level, finishing this book was a milestone for me. It was about proving to myself that I could achieve a long-held dream. It's a testament of accomplishment I can leave for my daughters, Izzy and Sophie, and the generations to come.
